Traffic accidents are a sad reality of today’s world. This subject and Road Safety problems are higher and more significant in emerging countries compared to developed countries. The reduction of accidents, injuries and fatalities can only be reduced with an increasing awareness and culture for behaviour based safety.
There are two aspects that can avoid fatality and injury as a result of accidents; humans and their behaviour, safety equipment of vehicles.
In the automotive industry safety equipment is separated in active and passive safety, whereas ABS and ESP for example is categorized as active safety feature. As passive safety feature we can list airbag and seat-belt for example. The airbag will become active automatically during an accident (depending on the type of accident). The seat-belt though require the initiative of the driver and passenger. The seat-belt usage ratio is unfortunately low in Turkey and the number of fatalities is reaching appr. 10.000 per annum. Researches and statistics show that the seat-belt reduces severe injuries by 45% in passenger car and by 50% in commercial vehicles.
Situation
Almost 98% of all accidents are caused through wrong driver behaviour. It is of high importance to change human behaviour in a positive manner, not only the one of drivers but of all traffic participants and passengers. For this the optimum way of generating awareness is to show and experience the related risks safely simulated and under real circumstances.
Aim
The activities aim to change the behaviour of users and increase the awareness for risks and measures to be taken. Otherwise the number of injuries and fatalities in traffic accidents will increase. To establish a Road Safety culture you have to reach out to a broad audience in the society.
Scope
Target groups are besides private and professional drivers, pedestrians, passengers, students and children. Seat-belt simulators are mobile and provide therefore the possibility to reach all target groups anywhere by providing a unique and entertaining experience which let users start thinking about Road Safety.
Simulators
The seat-belt simulators are an interaction between human and machine. The success in behaviour change towards Road Safety and the success of the simulators will increase by providing the right information before usage. This is why we have designed the simulators to reflect real circumstances for the users. It provides an unforgettable experience whilst the awareness for Road Safety is increasing. Both simulators, Roll-Over and Impact, aim to increase the usage of seat-belts while driving or even just being a passenger.
The simulators can be used for different activities and purposes;
Roll-Over Seat-Belt Simulator
Experience, without any risk, the physical and psychological effects of a real vehicle rolling over after an accident. With the start of the simulator all passengers inside the car realize what can and will happen in an accident. Our trainers provide all necessary information on how to use and adjust the seat-belt as well information about unsafe/ not secured items and their related risks. Once the simulator starts rolling small sponge balls and other soft items will hit but not hurt the passengers. Every user will experience that only the seat-belt is holding him/ her while rolling over.
The simulator is fixed on a trailer and is therefore mobile.
Max. capacity 4 passengers (2 front seat, 2 rear seat).
Operates with electricity and completes a 360 degree turn.
Required space is appr. 35-50 sqm
125 – 150 users can experience the simulator per day.
Impact Seat-Belt Simulator
All accidents in stop and go traffic are happening at low speed like 10 km/h. This impact simulator has been developed to demonstrate that the passenger is not moving forward and hitting the windshield when fastened. The passengers are reaching an impact speed of 5-10 km/h.
The simulator is fixed on a trailer and is therefore mobile.
Max. capacity 2 passengers.
Required space is appr. 20 sqm.
125 – 150 users can experience the simulator per day.
